Andi Weimann is back at Pride Park Stadium for a second spell with Derby County.

The versatile forward returns to strengthen John Eustace’s attacking options and this is the story of his career, before, during and after his first spell with the Rams.
A native of Vienna, Weimann was on the books of his local club Rapid Wien as a teenager before landing at Aston Villa’s Academy in 2007.
He made his professional debut for the Villans on the opening day of the 2010/11 Premier League, coming on a late substitute for Ashley Young in a 3-0 win over West Ham United.
Weimann gained further senior experience on loan at Watford before returning to Villa Park to become a key player under Paul Lambert.

From the start of the 2011/12 season until the summer of 2015, he played 127 games and scored 24 goals in all competitions before joining Derby for the first time.
The forward appeared on 33 occasions as the Rams reached the play-offs in 2015/16, but he found opportunities limited and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan in January 2017, where he famously scored the decisive goal in an FA Cup Fifth Round win over Liverpool at Anfield.
He returned to Pride Park to enjoy his best campaign in black and white, recording five goals and six assists as Derby reached the play-offs again in 2017/18, but fell short against Fulham in the semi-finals.
Weimann’s experience, quality and versatility earned him a move to Bristol City ahead of the 2018/19 campaign and he would spend the next six seasons at Ashton Gate.

The highlight was his outstanding 2021/22 season, when he played every single league game and scored a career-high 22 league goals.
He ended his time with the Robins having worn the captain’s armband regularly and with over 200 appearances and 51 goals to his name, while he also spent time on loan with West Bromwich Albion before departing permanently for Blackburn.
The attacker marked his debut with a goal in their 4-2 win over Derby on the opening night in August 2024 and went on to make 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine times.
At international level, Weimann has represented Austria on 26 occasions, with his last cap coming in November 2024.
