Derby County’s Carabao Cup Round One hero Joe Ward says the side will be ready to give their all when they head to Premier League Burnley in Round Two on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick-off).

The right-sider scored the equalising goal with a spectacular late free-kick that helped Derby get through to the next round of the competition via a penalty shoot-out against West Bromwich Albion earlier this month, following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
Following the shoot-out success, the Rams were drawn against Premier League newcomers Burnley in Round Two of the competition. The last time Derby headed to Turf Moor, in the Sky Bet Championship in December 2024, they played out a 0-0 draw
Ward, who has recently returned from a long layoff with a knee injury, spoke to RamsTV to reflect on his Round One goal and look ahead to the clash with meeting with the Clarets.
It is definitely up there in my top goals. It was a special goal, especially with the time of the game as well and what it meant to stay in the competition. It's important that we're all contributing, and it's what I want to keep doing, contributing with goals and assists.

It's been a long, hard road. I’m back in a good place, taking care of my recovery and my strength and everything that's going to keep me in a steady place. I'm pleased to be back and just want to contribute as much as I can. Hopefully we can push on this season and have a real good go.

We want to win every game we play. That's the mentality we have. We've got to go to Burnley and give it a good go. It's good to get decent performances in as well, because it will contribute to league performances as well.
