NEW SIGNING INTERVIEW: Travis ‘over the moon’ after making Derby move

Lewis Travis admitted he was ‘over the moon’ after completing his move to Derby County.

The 27-year-old midfielder joins Head Coach John Eustace’s ranks from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

He rose through the youth system with Rovers and went on to make 264 senior appearances in blue and white and became their captain in July 2022.

Travis previously operated under Eustace during his time with the Lancashire club last season and will link up with the Rams boss once again.

Travis spoke to RamsTV after checking in at Moor Farm Training Centre for the first time.

On becoming a Derby County player…

I'm over the moon to be here. It's been a long time coming, so I'm buzzing to finally be here.

On Head Coach John Eustace…

He's a really honest manager. Sometimes that's tough to find. I love the way he plays. He's very intense, and he's got his ways. Speaking to John Eustace and seeing his massive ambition for the club, the players he's brought in and obviously the facilities here - I was really excited to play in front of the home fans at Pride Park.

On seeing Derby last season and looking to push forward with the Rams…

My perception comes from the last time I played against Derby in March. They were in the bottom three, but the fans were so enthusiastic and so loud, they’re always behind the team.

It's a very hard-working team. Obviously, they know the way John wants to play. That's exactly how I like to do it. There are a lot of games to be played this season. We just need to knuckle down and kick on now.
