Andi Weimann made his second debut for Derby County when he took to the field in the side's 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship opener against Stoke City at the weekend.

The Rams took the lead through striker Carlton Morris at the bet365 Stadium with a superb debut goal, but a comeback from the hosts and two late goals consigned John Eustace’s side to defeat.
Weimann, who joined for his second spell at the club when he signed from Blackburn Rovers last month after playing for the Rams between 2015 and 2018, came off the bench in the Potteries and came close to scoring with a free-kick soon after coming on.
The Rams will have an immediate chance to respond when they face fellow Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion in Round One of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick-off).
The versatile attacker spoke to RamsTV ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against the Baggies.
It was nice to be back on the pitch, obviously after my knee injury as well. It was nice to be back involved and back in a Derby shirt too. We wanted to come away with something, and unfortunately we conceded two late goals.
My aim for the whole time in the off-season was to be fit when the new campaign started. I'm glad I managed to do that and I've worked hard to get back to it - I feel good now.

It's been easy, to be honest. I think around the place, everyone's still pretty similar. Obviously the players are new, but it's been easy - the players have been great. I knew a couple from before and it's been easy to settle back in. I've really enjoyed it.

I'm happy for Carlton. I am sure he probably would have liked to score in pre-season, but obviously he scored when it matters and now the season has started. It was a brilliant finish as well. He's been excellent since he's come in and you can see what a good striker he is. He's all-round player, he's brilliant, and he really deserved that.

It'll be good. Players who may not have had as many minutes in pre-season, hopefully, can get a bit of a run out. I'm looking forward to it; it should be a good game. We want to get a win and start our season.
It's always a little bit tough to know what team the opposition are going to put out as well in the cup. This early in the season, they might play players who didn't play on Saturday. I'm sure it'll be a tough game away from home again.

They were brilliant on Saturday. When we scored, they went crazy, and it was brilliant to see. We want to give them some good moments on Tuesday night.
