Defender Jess Melrose has joined Derby County Women as their second signing of the summer ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The young wing-back's move marks a return to the Ewes, after previously spending time on the books with the club at Under-10s level.
Melrose, a physical and attack-minded defender, has joined the Derby ranks after being on the books of Sheffield United’s Professional Game Academy (PGA).
During her time with the Blades' PGA, she experienced a stint on a dual-registration deal with Halifax last season, playing in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division - in the same league as Derby.
Melrose is the second player to be announced for the Ewes, after fellow Sheffield United PGA player Liv Edwards also signed up at Moor Farm - with the squad taking shape ahead of the 2025/26 season commencing on Sunday,17th August (3pm kick-off).
