Attacker Ben Brereton Díaz says Derby County ‘dug deep’ to earn a point in the Sky Bet Championship with a 1-1 draw at Wrexham.

The 26-year-old bagged his first Derby goal since joining the club on loan from Southampton in the summer transfer window to earn John Eustace's side a share of the spoils.
Midfielder Lewis O’Brien gave Wrexham the advantage with a headed goal in the 59th minute, but Derby fought back and Brereton Díaz’s excellently taken goal earned the Rams a point on the road.
The result kicked off a busy week for the Rams, who now have back-to-back home fixtures at Pride Park Stadium to look forward to as they face Charlton Athletic (Tuesday 30th September, 8pm kick-off) and Southampton (Saturday 4th October, 3pm kick-off) on home turf before the international break.
RamsTV spoke to the Derby goalscorer after the points were shared in North Wales.
Coming into the game, obviously, we're always wanting three points. We've got the capability, we had some good chances. At the end of the day, a point on the road is not too bad and we put it in the bag and go on Tuesday at home.

I feel like we showed great character. We had the better chances in the first half. In the second half, we had some great chances as well and we caused real problems.
We know it's always going to be tough coming here, and the lads dug deep and won the first balls and second balls and also played some nice football, which we want to do more of. I feel like at a point on the road is good, but we can definitely do better.

First of all, I’m delighted to get off the mark. I think it was Big Pat that got a little flick on. I took my touch round the defender and I saw the goalkeeper looked a bit unsure where his goal was, so I just thought: why not? I'm happy to get off the mark and feel really delighted.

It’s a brilliant group of players and a real family club. I've only been here for a few weeks, but I've gelled well with the lads. I know a few of the boys from playing with and against a lot of them before. I'm really enjoying myself here at Derby.

We're delighted to get a point. We could have had three, but now we've got to put in a big performance at home now (against Charlton on Tuesday) and show the fans what we're about.
