WOMEN’S MATCH PREVIEW: Wolves Women (H)

Derby County Women will host second-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers Women at the Don Amott Arena on Sunday as Sam Griffiths’ side return to league action (2pm kick-off).

The Ewes’ focus returns to the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division after a fine 4-1 home victory over Stockport County Ladies in front of over 700 supporters in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Second Round last weekend.

Derby will be looking to carry that forward momentum into the league when they clash with Wolves in Mickleover.

The fixture is the second of four consecutive home games for the Ewes after the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Third Round draw handed the Ewes a tie with Women's Super League 2 side Sunderland in early December.

Last time out in the league, the Ewes fell to a 2-0 defeat on the road to league leaders Burnley at Turf Moor in a battling performance on the road.

The Opponents

Wolves Women have enjoyed a successful campaign so far under manager Dan McNamara and are currently unbeaten in 15 matches across all competitions.

This will be the first time that the two teams face each other this term, with Wolves coming out on top in both the home and away clashes last season.

Wolves’ last fixture saw them also progress to the Third Round of the Women’s FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Stoke City, in a match broadcast by TNT Sports.

Their last league outing saw them score a late winner to beat Loughborough Lightning 3-2 at the SEAH Stadium.

Wolves currently sit one point behind league leaders Burnley but have a game in hand, recording eight wins and one draw in their nine league fixtures so far this term.
