FEATURE: Celebrating International Women’s Day

Derby County celebrates International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of women’s achievements, equality, and empowerment. We proudly support the day, highlighting the accomplishments of women in football and inspiring young girls to explore the opportunities the game can offer.

Representatives from Her Game Too and players from Derby County Women joined us at yesterday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park Stadium, highlighting their vital contributions to the club and our shared ambition to make football inclusive.

The fixture against Wednesday also saw the club run Her First Game, an initiative that saw multiple female fans experiencing a home game at Pride Park for the first time.

At half-time, we shone the spotlight on the Female Talent Pathway (FTP) Programme, which is the Derby County Community Trust-led pathway from youth development to the Derby County Women’s First Team.

Players from the FTP’s Under-9s joined First Team players Eve Shepherd, Lily Skeldon, Mia Wheeler and Marnie Drake pitchside at Pride Park. Ewes striker Georgia Stevens was also in attendance as part of RamsTV’s matchday coverage.
