Bamford & Thomas on target in friendly win.

A Derby County XI beat North American Soccer League outfit Minnesota United 2-0 in a friendly match on Monday afternoon.

The Rams named a strong line-up at the Derby County Training Centre in partnership with the University of Derby that included the likes of Johnny Russell, Conor Sammon, Patrick Bamford, George Thorne and Adam Legzdins.

Second half goals from Bamford and substitute Kwame Thomas won the game for Derby, as Head Coach Steve McClaren watched on from the sidelines.

Both sides missed penalties during the game with Jamie Watson hitting the post for Minnesota while Johnny Russell clipped the crossbar late on from 12 yards for the Rams.

Minnesota are in England as part of their pre-season preparations for their 2014 season and have been staying at St George's Park.

As part of their visit they have used the facilities at the Training Centre.

Minnesota also took in the Rams’ Sky Bet Championship home game with Bolton Wanderers last Tuesday as guests of the Club.
