Derby County duo Will Hughes and Jonathan Mitchell have been called up to the latest England Under 21 squad.
The Rams pair have been selected for the Young Lions’ upcoming international double header away to Kazakhstan and at home to Bosnia & Herzegovina early next month.
Both games are 2017 European Under 21 Championships qualifiers and England will face Kazakhstan in Aktobe on Thursday 6th October, before returning home to face Bosnia & Herzegovina at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium on Tuesday 11th October.
Academy graduate Hughes has been on the scene at Under 21 level for several years and has 17 caps to his name since 2012.
The midfielder has appeared 13 times in all competitions for Derby this season after recovering from a long-term knee injury towards the end of last season.
Mitchell, meanwhile, is celebrating his first-ever call-up to the England Under 21 squad after continuing to make excellent progress since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2014 from Newcastle United.
The goalkeeper made his professional debut for Derby in the Emirates FA Cup last season at Hartlepool United, before producing an impressive display in last week’s EFL Cup Round Three tie at home to Premier League Liverpool last week.
The duo link up with the England Under 21 squad following Derby’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at Reading on Saturday afternoon.
