Derby County is saddened to learn of the death of its former player John Richardson.

Richardson, who was 71, passed away at the Royal Derby Hospital earlier this month.

A full-back in his playing days, the defender was on the books at Derby between 1962 and 1971.

He made 133 appearances during that time and scored five goals for the club, during which time he was part of the 1968/69 Second Division championship-winning squad.

He also went on to play for Notts County and Kings Lynn.

The condolences and thoughts of everyone at Derby County go out to the family and friends of John Richardson at this time.
