Carson Completes Clean Sweep Of Player Of The Season Awards

Derby County's End of Season Awards Dinner, sponsored by McAndrew Utilities, took place at Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday – with Scott Carson claiming a clean sweep of this year’s awards.

The goalkeeper, fresh from claiming the Jack Stamps Player of the Year and Supporters’ Club Player of the Year awards last week, picked up the Players’ Player of the Year accolade at the event.

Carson, 31, has enjoyed a consistent season between the posts and, as a result, has picked up all of the Player of the Year accolades on offer.

He was also re-presented with the Jack Stamps Trophy on the night by manager Gary Rowett.

The event itself was attended by club officials, sponsors and supporters.

Youngster Max Lowe picked up the Young Player of the Year Award following an impressive breakthrough campaign. The left-back, having made his first-team debut earlier in the campaign, has shown positive signs in his development over the course of the season.

The Goal of the Season Award was lifted by Darren Bent following a vote by those in attendance on the evening and supporters via text message for his stunning volley at Wolverhampton Wanderers in November.

Tom Ince
lifted Highest Goalscorer Award after hitting the net 14 times in the current campaign with one game left to play, while goalkeeper Scott Carson picked up the Save of the Year for a crucial stop from Steven Naismith in the 1-0 win over Norwich City in November.

Following an impressive season for Derby County’s Under 23s in Premier League 2 – Division 1, Calum Macdonald was named as the Under 23s Player of the Year. The Scotland Under 21 international left-back has enjoyed another fine season of progression, which culminated in him being named in the first-team squad for last Saturday’s home victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Head Groundsman Nathan Scarff, having seen the Rams earn ‘highly commended’ status for the condition of the Pride Park Stadium pitch this season, claimed the Brian Clough Award for his continued excellent performance.

Academy youngsters Max Bird and Joe Bateman also picked up gongs on the night; highlighting the progress they have made in the last 12 months with the Academy Player of the Year and Scholar of the Year Awards.
