Matej Vydra’s red hot form over November has now seen him nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award.

The 25-year-old scored five goals – which includes a hat-trick against Middlesbrough – in just four games as the Rams collected seven points from 12 to climb into the play-off positions.

Those strikes also took the in-form Rams forward’s goalscoring tally to 12 for the season as he leapfrogged a number of the division’s best attacking players to become the second top goalscorer in the Championship.

The nomination comes just three days after he was also put forward for the PFA Championship Player of the Month award, as voted by football supporters, but Wolves’ Ivan Cavaleiro has since been announced as the winner.

Speaking about Vydra’s nomination, the EFL’s statement said: “It has taken a few years but the lightning quick pace and surging confidence he demonstrated at Watford are back.

“So, too, are his reactions in the box - as demonstrated by a hat-trick at Middlesbrough, three of his five goals in four games.”

Vydra is up against Albert Adomah (Aston Villa), Barry Douglas (Wolves) and Leon Clarke (Sheffield United) for the final award.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.

The winner will be announced on Friday 8th December.
