Derby County’s Mason Bennett has joined Sky Bet League 2 promotion chasers Notts County.

The 21-year-old forward has linked up with Kevin Nolan’s side in a loan deal which will run for the remainder of the campaign.

The Magpies currently sit in third place in League 2 and Bennett will bolster their frontline for the remaining months of the season.

Bennett has featured for the Rams’ first-team on six occasions this season and scored in the EFL Cup Second Round defeat at Barnsley in September.

His most recent appearance came off the bench in Derby’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie at Manchester United earlier this month.

Bennett, a graduate of Derby’s Academy set-up, is the Rams’ youngest-ever player and goalscorer.

He made his debut at 15 years and 99 days old in October 2011 and went on to score his first-ever goal at the age of 16 years and 174 days in a 5-0 FA Cup win over Tranmere Rovers in January 2013.

The former England youth international, who has also spent time on loan at Chesterfield, Bradford City and Burton Albion in the past, has made 42 appearances for Derby and scored three goals.

He has joined fellow youngsters Max Lowe, Charles Vernam, Offrande Zanzala, Callum Guy and Emil Riis Jakobsen in heading out on loan during the January transfer window to gain more first-team experience.
