Following a run of five wins from six matches over December, Gary Rowett and Scott Carson have been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month awards respectively.

The Rams claimed 16 points from a possible 18 and kept five clean sheets too as they surged into the division’s automatic promotion positions heading into the New Year.
It is the second time in just three months that Rowett, who this week also signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with the Rams, has been nominated for the award.
An EFL statement read: “Employed his tactical nous superbly to inspire a 16-point haul from six games with only one goal conceded. When December began, Derby were eight points off the automatic promotion places. When it ended, they were in them.”
The 43-year-old is up against Lee Johnson (Bristol City), Alex Neil (Preston North End) and Nuno Espírito Santo (Wolves) for the final award.
Meanwhile, Carson, the club’s reigning Player of the Year, becomes the second Rams player to be put forward for the player award after Richard Keogh was nominated back in October.
On the 32-year-old’s nomination, an EFL statement added: “Showcased his outstanding shot-stopping ability throughout the month with vital saves in each of the five games in which he kept clean sheets and preserved points for his side. One brilliant save against Millwall took the breath away.”
The Derby ‘keeper is up against Pontus Jansson (Leeds United), Jamie Paterson (Bristol City) and Romaine Sawyers (Brentford) for the final award.
The winners of the Sky Bet nominations will ne revealed at 6am on Friday 12th January.
The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.
