A Derby County spokesman said “Derby County notes the statement from the EFL regarding the postponed Sky Bet Championship fixture with Cardiff City on Sunday 18th March.

“The decision to postpone the game was made solely on public safety grounds and was approved by the independent Safety Advisory Group, who were fully aware and consulted before the postponement announcement of the risks posed due to the adverse weather conditions which had developed overnight.

“Derby County always prioritises public safety ahead of any other considerations when staging matches and events at Pride Park Stadium.”
