Derby County Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of the club’s oldest supporter Dolly Smith.

A life-long Rams fan, Dolly died at the weekend aged 107, after a short battle with pneumonia.

The flags outside Pride Park Stadium will be flown at half-mast today, whilst there will be a one-minute applause held from the 10th minute this coming Sunday when Derby take on Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Last summer, the club helped Dolly, who was born near Alfreton in 1910, celebrate her 107th birthday as three club legends – Roy McFarland, Kevin Hector and Roger Davies – paid her a visit at home in Beckitt Close. She was presented with a personalised shirt and tickets to watch a match in one of the stadium’s executive boxes.

Dolly attended and came on the pitch at our final pre-season fixture ahead of the 2017/18 season – against TSG Hoffenheim at Pride Park.

Speaking on the day about Dolly, club ambassador Roger Davies said: “She is just a wonderful lady. We became aware of Dolly a few weeks prior to the game and we went to see her. At the age of 107, you just can’t imagine what she’s been through. It’s an incredible story.”

The club’s sincerest condolences are with Dolly’s family and friends at this time.
