Derby County’s Matej Vydra has been named in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season for the 2017/18 campaign as he looks to end the campaign as the top goalscorer in the division.

With 18 league goals to his name this season, Vydra leads the Championship’s scoring chart and he has been deservedly rewarded with a spot in the XI that was voted for by all of the division’s managers.

Vydra, 25, has been in sparkling form this season and he has been involved in 21 of the Rams’ 57 league goals so far, with his 18 strikes coming from just 28 shots on target.

He scored his first-ever league hat-trick in Derby’s 3-0 victory against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium back in November and his improvement under Gary Rowett this season has been one of the key factors behind Derby’s promotion push.

Last season, the Czech Republic international forward scored five times as the Rams ended the Championship season in ninth-place.

This time around, he managed to surpass that tally after just 10 games and Rowett will be hoping that he can pass the 20-goal mark in the coming weeks as Derby look to secure their place in the Championship’s top-six.

It could be a double celebration for the Rams at the 2018 EFL Awards, which are scheduled to take place on Sunday 15th April at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Having been named the Midlands’ Checkatrade Community Club of the Year back in March, Derby are up against Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, Charlton Athletic, Portsmouth and Bristol City for the national award.
