Exciting youngster Jayden Bogle has committed his long-term future to Derby County.

The 18-year-old defender has put pen-to-paper on a new four-year contract which will run until the summer of 2022.

Bogle, who has progressed through Derby’s Academy ranks in recent seasons, has made an impressive start to the campaign under manager Frank Lampard.

The youngster has caught the eye with several composed performances at right-back after stepping up to the first-team squad during pre-season.

Bogle made his professional bow in the Carabao Cup First Round victory at Oldham Athletic last month, before making his Sky Bet Championship debut a few days later away to Millwall.

He is also the third Academy graduate to sign a new contract over the course of the opening months of the season, following in the footsteps of wide-man Luke Thomas and left-back Max Lowe.

Commenting on the news, Lampard said: “Jayden has really grasped his opportunity and deserves this new contract.

“From the first day of pre-season training, he has really impressed us. He has been a joy to coach and manage from my point of view; he has been brilliant and shown great maturity.

“I’m delighted for him and he is also a great advert for this club’s Academy and the younger players within it.”

Reacting to signing his new contract, Bogle said: “I’m really happy to sign this new contract. I’ve enjoyed every single moment of my time here so far and I’m excited for the future.

“Hopefully this is just the start for me. I am grateful for the opportunity that I have been given by this club and I am determined to keep working hard to improve as a player.”

Bogle has made eight first-team appearances in total so far this season, the latest of which came in Derby’s dramatic Carabao Cup Third Round penalty shoot-out victory at Premier League giants Manchester United on Tuesday.
