It was a good afternoon for a number of our players out on loan at the weekend.


In Sky Bet League One, attacker Luke Thomas marked his 38th appearance for Coventry City with his fifth goal of the season.

The 20-year-old received the ball inside the penalty area, created space for himself and fired confidently past the goalkeeper to equalise for the Sky Blues in their 2-2 draw against second-placed Barnsley.

Elsewhere in the division, Jonathan Mitchell marked his first start for Shrewsbury Town with a clean sheet.

The goalkeeper has had to wait patiently for his chance and when presented with the opportunity, he took it. He made a string of impressive saves as the victory for the Shrews eased their relegation fears with a 2-0 success at Southend United.

Jacob Butterfield played 86 minutes in Bradford City’s 1-0 defeat against Charlton Athletic, whilst George Thorne was a late substitute for Luton Town as they maintained their push for the Championship with a 2-1 win against Bristol Rovers.

In the Championship, central defender Alex Pearce played the full game for Millwall but was on the losing side as they were defeated 3-2 by Leeds United, however, it was a better afternoon for Chris Martin who featured in Hull’s 2-0 win against Ipswich Town.

Timi Elsnik came on as a 55th minute substitute for Northampton Town at the weekend, but his side lost out 2-1 to Port Vale.

In the National League, Sven Karic made his Braintree Town debut on Saturday. The defender had an impressive afternoon as he guided them to a 2-0 victory over Gateshead, however, results elsewhere unfortunately meant they suffered relegation. Aaron Eyoma also played the full match for Braintree.

Goalkeeper Matt Yates continued his impressive development as he kept a clean sheet for Hereford FC.

It was a second successive clean sheet for the youngster who starred in the 2-0 win over Spennymoor which moved his side to 16th in the National League North table.

Meanwhile in Scotland, Max Lowe played the full 90 minutes for Aberdeen this weekend but was unfortunately on the losing side.

The Dons dropped to fourth in the Scottish Premiership as they were overtaken by Kilmarnock who beat them 2-1 on Saturday.

Kyle McAllister did not feature for St Mirren this weekend, however, his side did move off the bottom of the table following a 2-1 victory over Dundee.

Nick Blackman (Sporting Gijon) and Jauvan Splatt (Mickleover Sports) were the only men out on loan not to feature for his loan clubs this weekend.
