Derby County’s players will take in some warm-weather training in the lead-up to their Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final clash against Aston Villa later this month.

After overcoming Leeds United 4-3 on aggregate at the Semi Final stage, Derby will take on Dean Smith’s side at Wembley Stadium on Monday 27th May 2019 (3pm kick-off) to compete for a place in the Premier League next season.

Derby’s squad will head abroad for a training camp to prepare for the clash, before returning home in the days leading up to the Final.

Manager Frank Lampard commented: “The players and staff have been magnificent this season and have worked incredibly hard from the first day of pre-season training last June.

“We enjoyed the moment on Wednesday evening at Leeds with our supporters but now the focus is very much on the Play-Off Final and preparing in the best possible way to face Aston Villa.

“Taking the players away for a few days will provide a change of scenery and given how close they are as a group, I believe it will also maintain the excellent team spirit.

“We will be using the time away to continue to work hard. It isn’t a case of going away to relax for a few days, it’s about utilising the time to get ourselves in the best possible shape to face Aston Villa a week on Monday.”

He added: “We are really looking forward to the game and now is about making sure our focus and preparation is absolutely spot on.”
