The Select Group 2 Officials for the 2019/20 season have been confirmed by the EFL, with five new faces added to the listings.

Dean Whitestone and Matthew Donohue will be joining the pool of referees for the upcoming campaign, whilst Nik Barnard, Richard Wild and Rob Smith have earned promotion to the Select Group 2 Assistant Referee list.

Select Group 2, consisting of 20 Referees and 36 Assistant Referees, officiate across the Sky Bet Championship and support development of refereeing standards across the Sky Bet EFL.

Whitestone has been officiating as a National Group Referee since 2005, bringing plenty of Football League experience to the group. Last season, he took charge of the Checkatrade Trophy Final between Portsmouth and Sunderland at Wembley Stadium, whilst officiating 32 EFL fixtures.

Donohue’s promotion follows a very successful debut season in the EFL following his promotion to the National Group last summer. Tallying 31 games as a referee within the EFL last season, he was also the Fourth Official in the Buildbase FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium.

Added to the Assistant Referee list, Nik Barnard, Richard Wild and Rob Smith all bring considerable experience, including officiating at the National Stadium and the EFL Play-Offs during the 2018/19 campaign.
