Central defender Richard Keogh has been confirmed as Derby County’s captain for the 2019/20 campaign.
Manager Phillip Cocu revealed the news during his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Huddersfield Town next Monday evening.
Keogh, 32, regularly wore the armband last season after Curtis Davies was ruled out for the vast majority of the campaign due to injury.
The Republic of Ireland international defender has held the position of captain for the majority of his time with the Rams and is set to lead the side out for the new campaign, which starts against the Terriers at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Keogh, who joined the Rams from Coventry City in the summer of 2012, is entering his eighth season with Derby sitting 20th in the club's list of all-time appearances.
He has played 348 games for the Rams in all competitions and claimed the Jack Stamps Player of the Year trophy on two occasions.
