Max Lowe says training has been really sharp this week - and he is hoping that Derby County's players can take that energy into Friday’s game against Cardiff City.

The Rams have had just under a fortnight to prepare for Friday night’s clash against the Bluebirds at Pride Park Stadium following the international break.

And Derby have used that time to put in some valuable time on the training ground which Lowe believes has been a huge positive for the side.

“It wasn’t an ideal to end to the last batch of games the way we did at Brentford, losing 3-0, but we just saw it as a break mentally more than physically,” he told RamsTV.

“Coming back this week in training, it has been sharp so hopefully we can turn that around in the performances starting with Cardiff on Friday night.

“Every Championship game I have played in has been tough, so we are not going to take this one lightly.

“We know we need to put the performance in first and hopefully we can get the result on top of that.

“We know we need to start really sharp and hopefully we can show the fans what we are capable of.

“I felt like this season we have performed in certain games, but not got the result. Brentford we didn’t do either, so we need to turn that around quickly.”

Defender Lowe has made six appearances for Derby so far this season, having spent most of last season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.
