Derby County boss Phillip Cocu says he is open to using Jayden Bogle in an advanced role in the future.

The 19-year-old right-back was used higher up the pitch in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Queens Park Rangers.

Bogle, who has been a first-team regular since making his debut at the start of last season, played as a winger as a youngster prior to joining Derby’s Academy at the age of 15.

The England Under-20 international is regarded as an attack-minded full-back and in the 2018/19 campaign, his first as a professional, he registered an impressive 11 assists.

Cocu has not ruled out utilising his offensive qualities higher up the pitch again for the Rams.

“It is always possible that we do it again because Jayden is a full-back but had a lot of years as a winger in his younger years,” Cocu told RamsTV.

“He feels good and his agility and individual qualities suits also this position. When the team needs it then of course it is possible. We also know that he can do the job very well as a full-back.”

Another option for Cocu to call upon at right-back is Andre Wisdom.

The 26-year-old, who can also play in central defence, made his first start of the campaign in last weekend’s draw with Queens Park Rangers after recovering from a knee injury.

Wisdom provides a different type of option for the Derby boss with Wisdom’s key attributes being his defensive skills.

He said: “We also have Andre who can play at right-back and I think he did very well last weekend.

“He is back after a long time out injured and he is training well and is really fit. He is a different type of full-back than Jayden, but it is good to have the options in the team.”

Cocu added: “For some games maybe we will need his quality and type of character and for some games the same applies for Jayden. They both need to be ready to help the team.”
