Pre-Match Thoughts: Forsyth Talks Playing Centre-Back, Unbeaten Run And Forest Green Test

Derby County defender Craig Forsyth is loving his extended run in the side and relishing his new-found position of centre-back under Head Coach Paul Warne.

Forsyth, who has predominantly been a left-back for the Rams since signing from Watford in 2013, has spent the majority of this season more centrally under Warne and is enjoying every minute.

Speaking to RamsTV prior to the Sky Bet League One home fixture against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, Forsyth spoke about his new role, the side's unbeaten run and the threat this weekend's visitors pose.

On becoming a centre-back...

I think I've been a left-back/centre-back for a while but I'm really enjoying playing there and getting a good run of games. I've not had a run of nine or ten games for a few years so that's good for myself and the team side of it - we've been doing quite well so there are no complaints.

There have been a lot of people over the years that have said to me I would end up playing at centre-half because of my attributes and size and so on. Over the years I've done bits and pieces there but I think this is the longest I've had a run there. I'm enjoying it.

We've been joking that the next position for me is goalkeeper as I keep moving further back!

On praise from the management...

It's nice to hear someone that is in charge saying nice things about you, it's what you want to hear. Long may it continue!

On the current form of the team...

It's been frustrating slightly that we've not turned some of the draws into wins or hang on for the win, like the draw at Burton last weekend.

We're still putting points on the board though and building some positive momentum so hopefully we can turn the next few home games into wins and make some of the draws good away points.

On adapting to Paul Warne's methods...

I think we're still adapting slightly but in the main everybody understands what the staff want from us and how they want us to play. Those messages have been constantly put across since day one but I think everybody is understanding the message - it's just about turning those draws into wins like I said earlier.

On Forest Green Rovers...

We've watched the video on them. They are a team that like to play out from the back, they like to play football so we'll hopefully have a game plan for that and try and take things to them. With us being at home, we want to make it a tough afternoon for them.
