Derby County Women wing-back Sacha Lewis and attacker Evie McCaffrey have been called up to the England Under-17 squad for the upcoming international fixture period.

The duo both joined Derby on dual-registration agreements that sees them play senior football with Sam Griffiths’ side while also continuing their development with parent club Manchester City.

England's Young Lionesses will head to Finland's Veritas Stadium to kick off their UEFA Women’s Under-17 European qualification campaign in Group E with three fixtures, starting when they play against Sweden on Friday 14th March (4:30pm kick-off).

They will also play the Netherlands (Monday 17th March, 11:30am kick-off) and Finland (Thursday 20th March, 11:30am kick-off) over the course of the fixture period.

McCaffrey played her first game for the Ewes in September’s home clash against Stoke City, while Lewis joined the squad later in the season and has impressed in her short time in Derbyshire.

Both McCaffrey and Lewis impressed as the Ewes claimed a 1-1 draw with in-form Rugby Borough last month and a 2-0 win over Halifax at the Don Amott Arena earlier this month.

The Ewes are in action this weekend as they head to the City Ground on Sunday 16th March to face East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division (2pm kick-off).
