PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW: Eustace says Rams are ready to ‘give their all' in front of Pride Park crowd

Head Coach John Eustace is looking forward to Derby County’s first home game of the 2025/26 season.

Derby's first Sky Bet Championship fixture of the new campaign at Pride Park Stadium will see the Rams take on Coventry City on Saturday afternoon (12:30pm kick-off).

Eustace says his side will be ready to ‘give their all’ back in front of the home crowd, following on from their penalty shoot-out victory over West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night in Round One of the Carabao Cup following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.

Joe Ward’s late free-kick equaliser set up a spot-kick decider for Derby, who secured their place in the Round Two of the competition, where they will face Premier League Burnley later this month.

Eustace spoke to RamsTV ahead of his side’s first home game of the season.

On the feeling ahead of the first home game…

The mood in the camp has been great since we came back for pre-season. The group that we've been working with every day has shown a fantastic attitude, togetherness - and that's been no different again this week.

On the team’s ‘never say die’ attitude after Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win…

Over the course of a long, relentless season, that's going to be needed for the team to be successful - and that's part of our DNA. If we're playing well or if we're not playing well, whatever happens, everyone's 100% committed. They'll always give their all for the football club and that's all I ask from the group of players that we're working with.

On being back at Pride Park…

I think everyone's really looking forward to the game. It's great to be back at Pride Park. The season tickets have been flying out, which is amazing, and the crowd will be in full voice I am sure.

We want to just make sure that we're competitive. We also want to make sure the fans go away happy, that they can see we're all desperately committed and we're giving it all we have for the football club.
