WOMEN’S MATCH PREVIEW: Liverpool Feds (A)

Derby County Women will look to get back to winning ways in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division when they travel to Walton Hall Park to face Liverpool Feds on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The game will be the third in eight days for the Ewes, following a 6-0 victory at Coventry Sphinx Ladies in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup last Sunday and a 2-1 home defeat to Stoke City Women in the league on Wednesday night.

Despite Georgia Stevens’ stunning first-half free kick against the Potters at the Don Amott Arena, goals from Evie Priestley and Abby Clark saw the visitors take all three points.

Ahead of the game, Liverpool Feds sit one place and three points ahead of Derby in the league, in eighth place.

The Opposition

Leanne Duffy’s side come into the game with one win in their last five matches – against Chester Le Street in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

A League Cup and FA Cup winner in her playing days, Duffy is now in her eighth season as Feds boss, having developed the side into a regular fixture in the third tier.

In the past three seasons, they have finished ninth, eighth and sixth, respectively.

The most recent meeting between the two sides saw Feds win a tight encounter at Jericho Lane by two goals to one, with Chenè Muir on the scoresheet for Derby.

While Liverpool Feds are the third-highest scorers in the league, they also have the worst defensive record in the division.
