Derby County is saddened to learn of the passing of its former goalkeeper John Middleton.

Middleton, a former England Under 21 international, was 59.


He made 80 appearances for Derby after joining from Nottingham Forest in the late 1970s, before a persistent shoulder injury forced him to retire in 1980.


The condolences of everyone at Derby County Football Club go to John’s family and friends at this time.


The funeral will take place on Wednesday 20th July at St. Mathews Church, Lumley Road. Skegness PE25 2AT, starting at 12:30pm.


Those that wish to do so can visit Alford Crematorium afterwards, which is located on Station Road, Alford, LN13 9LH.
