Darren Wassall’s Under-23s head into the game against last year’s Premier League Cup winners in a rich vein of form having not tasted defeat in seven outings, winning their last four on the bounce.
Derby’s youngsters are currently second in Group F, and Thursday night’s clash against Aston Villa will see the side attempt to build on the point they picked up away to Plymouth Argyle in their opening game of the competition.
