Derby County will face Sky Bet League 2 side Scunthorpe United away from home in the First Round of the 2019/20 Carabao Cup.

The draw took place just after 7pm this evening, with former England internationals John Barnes and Ray Parlour overseeing proceedings at Morrisons in Colindale, which is located within a short distance from Wembley Stadium - the home of the Carabao Cup Final.

Frank Lampard’s side will take on the Iron at Glanford Park during the week commencing 12th August 2019.

Scunthorpe, who recently appointed Paul Hurst as their new manager, were relegated from Sky Bet League 1 last season.

The sides last met in the competition at the start of the 2012/13 season, also at the First Round stage, at Pride Park Stadium. The tie ended in a thrilling 5-5 draw before Scunthorpe ran out 7-6 winners on penalties.

The tie could see Derby's USA international midfielder Duane Holmes come up against his former club after he joined the Rams from Scunthorpe for an undisclosed fee last summer.

The match date and ticket information will be confirmed in due course, once club officials have finalised the relevant details and the EFL have selected their matches for live coverage on Sky Sports.
