Winger Kamil Jozwiak says Derby County’s players know performances and results have to be better in order to climb the Sky Bet Championship table.

The 22-year-old, who joined the club from Polish side Lech Poznan in September, has had a positive impact since his arrival.

He provided an assist on his debut for Jack Marriott to score at Luton Town, whilst he saw a goal cruelly chalked off against near neighbours Nottingham Forest last month in the final 10 minutes of the 1-1 draw.

Jozwiak’s energy, pace and power has been a threat to opposition defences in the league, but he knows the Rams need to start picking up results quickly.

The Polish winger, almost two months after joining the club, has quickly settled into life in England.

“I feel I have fitted in at Derby really well,” he told RamsTV. “For me and my girlfriend, life here is good. We are disappointed about the results here and we have to do better; but I am happy in Derby.

“I want to improve my game and for us to pay better as a team. I hope that the next game will be the one for us to get a breakthrough.

He added: “I am happy with this move because it is a good move for me. I want to improve my qualities and do my best for the team.”

Jozwiak’s strike against Forest was ruled out for an apparent offside in which Martyn Waghorn was adjudged to have blocked the goalkeeper’s eyeline.

It denied the winger his first goal for the Rams but he knows he cannot dwell on that now and can only look forward.

“I think it was a clear goal, but I am not the referee and it was his decision,” he admitted. “In the first moment I was so happy because it was a good moment for us and we could have won the game.

“We have to forget about that and focus on the next game.”

Derby supporters have certainly taken to the 22-year-old. He has earned plaudits from supporters watching at home, but he is keen to keep his head down and concentrate.

“I haven’t seen the comments online because my job is to play football,” he said. “If Derby fans like me, it is good. I hope I can do more for them and score a lot of goals. I hope I can be an asset for the fans and the club.”

After Saturday’s game against Barnsley, the winger will jet off on international duty with Poland ahead of their crucial UEFA Nations League fixtures.

“It is always a big pleasure for me to play in my national team,” he commented. “We have to do our job the best we can because we have big games against Holland and Italy so I hope we can win. It will be good for us.”

Derby County face Barnsley in the Sky Bet Championship at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday 7th November (3pm kick off).
