Midfielder Krystian Bielik is hoping for more of the same as Derby County head to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day (5:30pm kick-off).

The Polish international scored his first goal for the Rams on Tuesday night as Derby ran out 4-0 winners against Birmingham City away from home.

Further goals from Graeme Shinnie, Colin Kazim-Richards and Jason Knight ensured the Rams moved out of the Sky Bet Championship relegation places.

The win also signalled a fifth clean sheet out of six and the side have only lost once in their last eight games.

All eyes now turn to Friday evening's game as the Rams face a Sheffield Wednesday side who are managerless following the departure of Tony Pulis earlier this week.

And Bielik, who has shone since his return to the starting XI following a serious knee injury ruled him out for more than 10 months, believes the Rams are only just getting started.

“I think we are warming up,” he told RamsTV following the victory over Birmingham City.

“We have more to improve on, for sure. We will create more, we will score more goals and I am really happy because we kept another clean sheet as well.

“We do this day-by-day on the training ground, we train on that with the coaching staff and you can see that in the last six or seven games.

“We have a few days to recover, not even three full days. We know what we have to do against Sheffield Wednesday; we have a plan.

“We will go to Sheffield for another three points. It would be good to start the New Year with another good performance and result.”
