Luke Thomas came off the bench to help Coventry City to victory on Saturday as put pressure on the teams above them in Sky Bet League One.


The attacking midfielder came on in the 58th minute and had a part in the Sky Blues’ winner on the hour mark as they beat Accrington Stanley 1-0.

The win moved them up to eighth in the table and within five points of the play-off places.

Elsewhere in League One, goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell made his debut for Shrewsbury Town as he came on as a second half substitute following the injury to Steven Arnold.

The shot-stopper came on in the 83rd minute and helped keep a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Jacob Butterfield played the full game in Bradford’s 5-1 defeat against Portsmouth, whilst George Thorne did not feature in the squad for Luton Town this weekend.

In the Championship, Chris Martin played the full 90 minutes in Hull City’s 2-0 win against Birmingham City, whilst Alex Pearce was an unused substitute for Millwall in their 3-1 home loss to Norwich City.

Meanwhile in Scotland, it was a good afternoon for both Max Lowe and Kyle McAllister. Lowe’s Aberdeen side drew 1-1 with second-placed Rangers in the Scottish Cup, whilst McAllister was a second half substitute for St Mirren against Livingston in the league.

McAllister was introduced on the 57th minute as St Mirren scored in the final minute to win the game 1-0 to move within one point of Dundee who sit second-from-bottom in the Scottish Premiership.

Young goalkeeper Matt Yates continued his development as he played the full 90 minutes in Hereford’s 2-2 draw against FC United of Manchester at the weekend.

Timi Elsnik was an unused substitute for Sky Bet League Two side Northampton Town on Saturday as they won 2-0 at Crewe Alexandra, whilst Nick Blackman was not named in Sporting Gijon’s squad this weekend.
