TEAM NEWS…

Striker Jack Marriott (ankle) and winger Kamil Jozwiak (knee) are expected to be fit after taking part in training towards the end of this week.

The pair picked up injuries in the second half of last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Luton Town, but they are not deemed to be as bad as first feared.

Centre-back Mike te Wierik is available again after serving a one-match following his red card in the Rams’ Carabao Cup Second Round tie against Preston North End last week.

Duane Holmes has recovered from a minor muscle problem and could return to the matchday squad.

Martyn Waghorn (calf), Tom Lawrence (shoulder) and Krystian Bielik (knee) remain sidelined and recent signing Jordon Ibe is still building up his match fitness after signing for the club this week.

PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS…

Speaking to RamsTV ahead of Saturday's game, Derby boss Phillip Cocu said: "It is always important to get points on the board because, like we said last season, if you win a few games you can play positive good football and we try to do that in every game.

“You have to combine that with good results as well. Two defeats in a row in the league means there is a little bit more pressure for the next game.

“We need to make sure we play on the front foot and keep being creative and create the same amount of opportunities that we did in our last game at Luton.

“That is a positive development, but we cannot sit down and relax. We have to push more and push harder to get a win. You must put up a fight every game in the Championship. We have to make sure the details are in our favour and we get a positive result.”

More pre-match comments from Derby's manager and defender Nathan Byrne can be found across dcfc.co.uk and also on RamsTV.

SUBSTITUTE RULES…

A temporary matchday rule was put in place for the final nine games of the 2019/20 season, following the resumption of the season after a three-month suspension, when it came to substitutes in games.

Clubs were allowed to make up to five changes over the course of 90 minutes from a possible nine players.

This has now reverted back to the traditional three substitutions being allowed for the 2020/21 campaign, with seven substitutes permitted to be named.

GOAL LINE TECHNOLOGY…

Goal line technology is, once again, being used at all Sky Bet Championship matches during the 2020/21 season.

The system was introduced for the start of the 2017/18 campaign and is now entering its fourth full season in the division.

WHO’S THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE…

Andy Woolmer will be the man in the middle at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday.

Woolmer, who oversaw 34 games in total during the 2019/20 campaign and recorded 91 yellow cards and four reds, has taken charge of one game so far this season in the EFL.

Over the course of last season Woolmer was in charge of two Derby fixtures in the Championship, with his last being the 1-0 home win over Hull City in January of this year.

Woolmer will be assisted by Bhupinder Gill and Rob Smith on the lines, whilst Mark Jones has been appointed as the fourth official.

STAY AT HOME…

Derby County is continuing to urge supporters to stay away from stadiums when matches are played, with the UK Government advice remaining the same relating to playing behind-closed-doors at this time in the 2020/21 season.

Matches are still being played behind-closed-doors with the safety of supporters, club personnel and the frontline services remaining the principle priority at this time.

Consequently, supporters will not be permitted entry to any area of the stadium and extra security measures around the immediate area including car parks will be in place when staging matches.

Supporters are also urged to maintain social distancing guidelines and avoid congregating outside stadiums or gathering to watch matches, as part of a new campaign message: ‘When we play, please stay away’ ahead of all EFL matches.

The club and the Derbyshire Constabulary are united in one message to fans - support the Rams and 'Watch From Home'.
