TEAM NEWS…

Curtis Davies is sidelined due to an injury sustained in Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw at Brentford and he is awaiting the results of a scan on his Achilles/calf area.

The experienced defender picked up the problem in the second half of the clash against the Bees and was carried off on a stretcher.

Midfielder Graeme Shinnie will serve a one-match ban after picking up his fifth league booking of the season at Brentford.

Defender Nathan Byrne is back in the fold after he was ruled out of the goalless draw in West London after collecting five league bookings.

Youngster Kornell McDonald is expected to be in the squad once again after coming off the bench at Brentford to make his senior bow, while Louie Sibley, Mike te Wierik and George Evans are pushing to return to the matchday squad.

PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS…

Speaking to RamsTV ahead of Saturday's game, Derby's Specialst First Team Coach Liam Rosenior said: We have always said that we know we have good players and I think we’ve altered things that I think any coaching staff would change.

“We’ve spoken more about being hard to beat, having a resilience and determination to win duels and headers and tackles, and I think the players are showing that.

“When you do get good performances, it gives you as a coaching staff a real basis and platform to build on.

“At Brentford in midweek, we were delighted with the application, the discipline and character of the players because they are all of the things we want to build on.

“We want to simplify things and I think you can see in our performances, but what we don’t want is to lose that confidence to play.

“I think that is the next step for us now, to go out and really dominate a game and be on top of all of the aspects that we have been working on the training ground day-in-day-out.”

More pre-match comments from Rosenior, and winger Kamil Jozwiak, can be found across dcfc.co.uk and also on RamsTV.

WHO IS THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE…

Andy Woolmer will be in charge of Saturday's game at Pride Park Stadium.

Woolmer has overseen 13 games so far this season and produced a total of 44 yellow cards and no red cards.

His last Derby game was the home game against Blackburn Rovers back in September, with the visitors running out 4-0 winners.

Woolmer will be assisted by Michael George and Steven Meredith on the lines, whilst James Bell has been appointed as the fourth official.

RAINBOW LACES…

As part of the EFL’s ‘Not Today or Any Day’ anti-discrimination campaign, EFL clubs across the country have united in their support of LGBT inclusivity to raise awareness of Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign.

The focus of this year’s campaign is ensuring a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all whether we’re together, apart, online or on the pitch, as we collectively work to Make Sport Everyone’s Game.

In support of the campaign, specific matchday activity will take place at all EFL clubs between Friday 4th December and Sunday 13th December.

Rainbow corner flags and substitution boards will be used by clubs at their selected fixture to highlight their continued support for LGBT fans, players and staff across the game. Rainbow captain’s armbands and laces have also been provided to clubs.

Derby’s allocated match to support the Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign will be this weekend's game against Stoke City.

Players from the Rams' squad also showed their support to Stonewall Rainbow Laces in the 0-0 draw at Brentford on 9th December, as part of the Bees' nominated fixture to support the campaign.

Clubs will also highlight the important work they do within this area to continue to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

The EFL’s support for Rainbow Laces forms part of its wider LGBT work and anti-discrimination campaign, ‘Not Today or Any Day’ which continues to raise awareness of the issue and the zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and prejudiced behaviour by the League and its clubs.

EFL SUBSTITUTES RULE…

Following consultation with clubs, the EFL Board has agreed to increase the permitted number of substitutes to five in all Sky Bet EFL fixtures for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

Regulation 33.4 has been amended to permit:

* Championship Clubs to name up to nine substitutes in their matchday squad, with five permitted to take to the pitch in any fixture.

* League One and League Two Clubs can name up to seven substitutes in their match day squad, again with five permitted to take to the pitch.

GOAL LINE TECHNOLOGY…

Goal line technology is, once again, being used at all Sky Bet Championship matches during the 2020/21 season.

The system was introduced for the start of the 2017/18 campaign and is now entering its fourth full season in the division.

ONLINE PIRACY…

The EFL, alongside all 72 of its member clubs, has launched a campaign aimed at discouraging the illegal streaming of fixtures, warning that doing so will take vital revenue away from clubs

The outbreak of COVID-19 and subsequent behind-closed-doors matches mean that income generated by streaming matches is more important than ever and remains one of the only income streams available at this challenging time.

Illegal streaming, therefore, is having a greater impact on clubs whilst supporters are unable to attend matches. The EFL and its clubs could potentially lose around a third of income from illegal streaming this season, a figure which is potentially much higher when factoring in every illegal stream.

Statistics show that over half of sports fans consume sports content from pirate services at least once a month. Over 7,000 illegal EFL streams have been detected so far this season, with an average of 170 people viewing each stream, totalling almost 1.2million people. Supporters in the UK accessing streams via a VPN are also accessing the stream illegally.

Failure to comply with the terms set out when subscribing to live streams for the EFL is a serious breach and allows the ability to terminate the subscription. The EFL, and clubs streaming through their own services, have very similar rights in their terms and conditions.

The EFL and its clubs take piracy incredibly seriously, working with a specialist security agency to proactively seek out illegal streams on all formats and taking action against businesses and individuals.

Supporters are therefore encouraged to report any illegal streams, or pubs that may be showing EFL content unlawfully, by emailing [email protected]. All emails will be treated confidentially.

STAY AT HOME…

Derby County is continuing to urge supporters to stay away from stadiums when matches are played, with the UK Government advice remaining the same relating to playing behind-closed-doors at this time in the 2020/21 season.

Matches are still being played behind-closed-doors with the safety of supporters, club personnel and the frontline services remaining the principle priority at this time.

Consequently, supporters will not be permitted entry to any area of the stadium and extra security measures around the immediate area including car parks will be in place when staging matches.

Supporters are also urged to maintain social distancing guidelines and avoid congregating outside stadiums or gathering to watch matches, as part of a new campaign message: ‘When we play, please stay away’ ahead of all EFL matches.

The club and the Derbyshire Constabulary are united in one message to fans - support the Rams and 'Watch From Home'.
