Fresh from signing a new deal with Derby County, full-back Max Lowe is relishing the opportunity to gain valuable first team experience on loan with Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.

The 21-year-old, who started the opening two games of the season and featured in the Carabao Cup victory over Hull City last week, was rewarded by manager Frank Lampard with a three-year contract before making the switch to Pittodrie on Deadline Day.

Lowe made his debut on Saturday and was a shining light in an otherwise difficult afternoon for the Dons, as they lost 2-0 at home to Kilmarnock after being reduced to 10-men early on, and he believes the loan spell could prove to be beneficial in his development as a footballer.

Speaking to Aberdeen’s official website, Lowe said: “Frank Lampard has been great with me by letting me out to get some games under my belt. I want to try and win and learn as much as I can.

“I’ve seen the competitiveness of the games up here and Aberdeen are trying to challenge at the top end of the table, so I’ve got to play my part in the team and help them win games.

“I want to help the lads by picking up three points and if I can be part of then that would be perfect for me.”

Derek McInnes has been the manager of Aberdeen for over five years have a history of helping young players progress, most notably James Maddison who spent with the club on loan in 2016.

“As soon as the interest was there, Jody Morris pulled me aside and said how great the [Aberdeen] manager is with young players and how I’m going to learn a lot by being here,” Lowe added.

“It was a no-brainer for me once Jody gave the go ahead.”

Lampard echoed his full-back’s statement and admitted Lowe could have a big future at Pride Park Stadium.

“I am very pleased for Max,” said the manager when speaking to RamsTV. “I’m very happy that he’s got an opportunity to play at a great level under a very good manager.

“Max has fantastic potential but what you need is regular football. He will get that at Aberdeen and we still see him firmly in our plans and he will be a big player for us going forward so it will be a great experience for him.”

Lowe’s Aberdeen side are next in action on Saturday, September 15 as they take on St Johnstone FC.
