Derby County’s Luke Thomas has extended his loan spell at Sky Bet League One side Coventry City.

Thomas, 19, linked up with the Sky Blues on a half-season loan deal back in August as he sought to gain further first-team experience.

Off the back of an impressive first half of the campaign in the West Midlands, Thomas will now remain at the Ricoh Arena until May to continue his development.

The paperwork to extend the loan deal until May was completed this afternoon and is subject to EFL approval.

The forward has been a regular in Mark Robins’ side this season and has made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring three times.

He has produced some eye-catching displays for Coventry and the Rams have monitored his progress closely.

Thomas signed a new four-year deal with the Rams at the beginning of the current campaign, which will run until the summer of 2022, following a productive pre-season campaign under Frank Lampard.

The reigning Sammy Crook’s Young Player of the Year made his professional debut for Derby last season, coming off the bench against Queens Park Rangers in November 2017.
