It was a debut to remember for Timi Max Elsnik as he scored on his debut for Sky Bet League Two side Northampton Town at the weekend.

The midfielder was the quickest to react in the penalty box as he fired past Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche to open the scoring for the Cobblers on 23 minutes.

The 20-year-old, who previously enjoyed a loan spell with Mansfield Town in the same division, played the full 90 minutes for his new side but Northampton had to settle for a point as the Shrimpers equalised in the second half in the 1-1 draw.

That was Elsnik’s fifth goal of the season and it was a good way to start his life at Northampton, who sit 17th in League Two, after he sealed a move to Sixfields last Friday.

North of the border, full-back Max Lowe put in a solid display and recorded a clean sheet in his second game back on loan with Aberdeen.

He played the full game as his side drew 0-0 with high-flying Kilmarnock to move up to third in the Scottish Premier League. Meanwhile, Kyle McAllister played 90 minutes in St Mirren’s 3-1 home defeat against Hibernian.

Central defender Alex Pearce was part of an FA Cup upset on Saturday as his Millwall side beat Premier League side Everton 3-2 at The Den. Pearce came on as a substitute in the dying seconds of the game to see the game out.

Chris Martin’s Hull City were beaten for the first time in 10 games as Blackburn Rovers ran out 3-0 winners in the Sky Bet Championship.

In Sky Bet League One, attacker Luke Thomas played 90 minutes but was unable to help his Coventry City side to victory as they were beaten 2-0 against Blackpool.

Elsewhere in the division, George Thorne was an unused substitute for Luton Town as they beat Southend United 1-0 at Roots Hall to move top of the division.

Young goalkeeper Matt Yates starred for Hereford FC as he made a string of saves in the final 10 minutes to ensure his side beat Blyth Spartans 3-2 in the league. Fuseine Rashid and Juavin Splatt did not feature for their new loan side Barwell FC after moving on loan at the back end of last week.

In Spain, Nick Blackman came on as a 66th minute substitute for Sporting Gijon but his side lost the game 2-1 against Deportivo.
