Nick Blackman was the hero for Sporting Gijon this weekend as he netted the only goal of the game in their 1-0 victory against Mallorca.

The striker converted from close range on the hour mark to score his first goal for his loan club after joining on a season-long arrangement back in the summer.

Following the game, Blackman said: “I’m very happy that we won the game. It was very difficult and we fought very hard for the three points.”

In Scotland, Max Lowe played the full 90 minutes in Aberdeen’s 2-1 victory over St Mirren. The win for the Dons moves them up to fourth in the Scottish Premier League table, four points off top spot.

Luke Thomas made his 21st appearance for Coventry City this weekend but was on the losing side as they were beaten 2-1 at home to Luton Town.

The attacker played the full 90 minutes but was unable to prevent his side from falling to defeat against the Hatters.

Timi Elsnik played 45 minutes for Mansfield Town before their game against Forest Green Rovers had to be abandoned at half time due to a waterlogged pitch, whilst goalkeeper Matt Yates played the full 90 minutes in Hereford’s 2-1 victory over Billericay Town in the FA Trophy, but Ethan Wassall didn't feature.

Aaron Eyoma, after joining Woking on loan last week, made his debut in their 1-1 draw with Maidstone United in the FA Trophy

Chris Martin (Hull City), Jonathan Mitchell (Oxford United) and Kellan Gordon (Lincoln City) were all unused substitutes for their respective loan sides this weekend.
